Waitangi Day Closures

All libraries will be closed on Tuesday 6 February to observe the Waitangi Day public holiday. We will re-open on Wednesday 7 February per our usual operating hours.

Recycling Changes

From 1 February 2024 the Ministry for the Environment is making it easier for people to recycle right, no matter where you are in Aotearoa New Zealand by standardising kerbside recycling.

There have been just two small changes for our district. You can now put more plastics marked '1' in your yellow mixed recycling bin. You will be able to recycle meat trays, punnets, and coloured bottles (like L&P). Pizza boxes, if they are free from grease will also be able to go in the yellow bins.

Click here for the latest updates and information about recycling with care.

Chromebooks now available at Arrowtown

Are you studying, looking for a job, working on your resume, looking to connect with family and friends, or are you perhaps keen to do some research? Arrowtown now offers the free use of Chromebooks while in the Library! We also have Chromebooks at Frankton, Queenstown, and Wānaka. Read more here.

Library App

Is the app still down?

Yes, and we ask that you please delete the app from your device. The current version of the Library App is redundant and while it may have some features that appear to work the information is outdated.

When will the app be back up?

We have been told by the developer that a new app should be available in a few months. When a new app is released we will advise on our regular channels.

What can I use instead of the app?

We recommend using the mobile optimised catalogue on your phone web browser by clicking https://ent.kotui.org.nz/client/en_AU/cq. From the online catalogue you can login and manage your account, just like in the app. Most features are similar to the app however if you have any questions, please get in touch.

What if the mobile optimised catalogue is not working on my device?

The mobile optimised catalogue is not working on some devices. If this happens to you, please email or call your local library to renew items.

What can I do if I find the online catalogue difficult to use?

Feel free to email or call your local library to renew items.

The contact details for your local branch are listed here, or feel free to email: libraries@qldc.govt.nz.

We apologise for the inconvenience.

New Non-fiction

Most Borrowed of 2023

We are always curious to see what our district has been reading and without further ado, we have the most borrowed books of 2023! This year we have the most borrowed books for our patrons and also the most borrowed books by our librarians, in fiction and non-fiction.

Digital Spotlight

Are you on the go and got time for a story? Or just didn't find time to pop into the library for a book? That's not a problem... you can find your next eBook or eAudiobook on BorrowBox and Libby!

We have a huge range of titles available in our eCollection, and what's even better is our doors are never closed, with 24/7 access from the comfort of your own home, car, or any time you're on the go! All you need handy is your library card and pin/password.

How can I read eBooks and eMagazines?

*Please note - the only Kindle device that is compatible with BorrowBox and Libby is the Kindle Fire (the app is available on the Amazon store). If you have a Kobo eReader you won't have any issues.

How can I listen to eAudiobooks?

  • You'll need to log into each app using your Library card and pin/password.
