Upcoming Library Closure
Our libraries will be closed on Friday 20 June to celebrate Matariki.
Winter bugs
Please remember to stay home if you are unwell. Take advantage of our eBook and audiobook selection on Borrowbox and Libby, or request a home delivery (available from Frankton, Hāwea, Queenstown or Wānaka branches).
Placing holds on available items
Placing a hold on an item via our app or library catalogue doesn't mean that the item will be available instantly, even if it looks like it's available in the library branch where you are.
We will send you an email to let you know when your item is ready to collect at your chosen branch. Please be patient with our staff and wait for the email notification. Thank you for understanding!

Join the Winter Reading Challenge 2025
Our annual Winter Reading Challenge is here to help make those chilly days a little warmer! Challenge your current reading habits this winter and have the chance to win a prize.
We have 2 themed challenge cards for you to choose from this year, 'Get Cozy' or 'Challenge Yourself'. Pick up a challenge card from your local library or download it from our website today. Return your completed entries to your local library branch by Friday 5 September.

Matariki korero
Join us for Matariki Kōrero, an evening of storytelling, reflection, and star lore with Matua Darren.

Join the Tāhuna Glenorchy Dark Skies Team as they share their light-hearted and inspiring journey, from zero astronomy knowledge to global recognition.

Ready to learn Spanish the fun way?
Join Natalia Brown for a friendly introduction to Spanish at Frankton Library.
Through games, conversation, and easy grammar tips, you’ll pick up useful phrases and feel more confident speaking Spanish in no time.

Matariki Storytime
Join us at the library for a special Matariki preschool storytime celebrating the start of the Māori New Year.
Young artists across the district are invited to submit a drawing inspired by the cosmic wonders above.
Two winning artists will see their drawings transformed into a sculpture by artist Hazweld. Sculptures will be auctioned with proceeds going to KidsCan charity.
Pick up an entry form at your local library or download it online.
Entries close 11 July.
Our usual programmes are running until the next School Holidays at the end of June, when we will take a pause and resume in Term 3.
Please note that due to demand, Wriggle & Rhyme and LEGO® Club at Frankton Library now require bookings.
