Avoiding scams
We hear from libraries across the motu and beyond about people being targeted by scammers. We want to help you spot any fraudulent messages, so here's what to look out for in communications from Queenstown Lakes Libraries:
  • You will only receive emails or phone calls from us - never a text message or letter.
  • We do not charge for holds or overdue books (we are a fine-free library service). We do charge for photocopying or books that are assumed lost.
  • We never ask you for eftpos/credit card or bank account details via telephone or email.
  • If you are in doubt about any communications you have received that appear to be from any Queenstown Lakes library branch, please visit, email or call one of our library branches and we can identify whether the message came from us.
  • Verify our branch contact details via our website.
For information about scams, how to identify them and how to protect yourself, visit the Netsafe website.
