Library Noticeboard
Upcoming library closure for King's Birthday
All library branches will be closed on Monday 1 June 2026 for the King's Birthday public holiday.
Library account: Queue position feature removed
Some of you have already noticed that we have removed the 'position in queue' feature in the Library App and the Library Catalogue.
We decided to remove this feature after we found that the queue position displayed was often incorrect. The error is due to the fact that we share our Library Management System with other public libraries across NZ, and the holds queue system picks up on the holds for the same titles in other public libraries.
If you are new to the Queenstown Lakes District or know someone who is, please take a look at or recommend the Newcomers Guide. This guide is designed to help newcomers connect with local resources and services to help you adjust to life in our community.
Coding robots are a new item you can borrow from our Karawhiua Collection (Library of Things). These robot kits offer a fun hands-on learning experience for children to improve their creativity and problem-solving skills, and learn to code. We offer different types of robots available for different age ranges.
Please note that although the robots are for children, only permanent adult library members are able to borrow them (on behalf of the child). You must collect Karawhiua items from their home library and return them to that library, not to another library or a drop-box. The full borrowing conditions are available on our website.
Let's play! Did you know you can borrow board games and puzzles from the library? We asked our librarians what their favourite games are. Take a look at their recommendations to inspire your next board game night!
Queenstown Lakes Libraries doesn't subscribe to Generosity or LinkedIn Learning. However, we've recently found out that individuals can access these subscription services via other public organisations.
